Even a cursory glance at the news can too easily lead us to become people of doom: violence seems the first step in dealing with differences, truth is the casualty in political spin, trust has been violated within Church,
corporate greed and shareholder profit
overshadow the common good, racial and
religious divisions feed a culture of
suspicion, planet Earth continues to be
plundered by wanton neglect and political
expediency and the alienation of the poor in our world is an ever-increasing reality. In these painful times we weep.
