Works

From simple beginnings in education the Brigidine Sisters are engaged in an ever-widening circle of works which address the needs of the times. Foundational to this is the commitment to the transforming mission of Jesus wherein we are co-workers in promoting values, attitudes and conditions which contribute to the building of a more just society.

Refugee Support Groups

For some years the social justice groups across the Provinces and Regions have given attention to the growing problem of refugees and asylum seekers. More recently debate and controversy about the treatment of these people in the countries in which we work has led to a deeper commitment to this global concern. Sisters are engaged in support groups and networks which work at a number of levels - visiting and providing moral support and material aid to refugees in detention centres and in the community; working on education and awareness raising projects; and advocating and lobbying for change in the policies of governments.
